 Ok, specifically what happens: when a new conversation window is opened
 for a buddy with a buddy icon (at least for aim), the window is made
 smaller from the bottom up until the text entry size is approximately the
 buddy icon height plus the toolbar height.  The default is at that point
 reset for other new windows of course.  In light of this behavior I'd say
 this is no longer a feature request, but rather a bug report.
