Comment:

 I did eventually find it (via rpmfind iirc).  I actually tried SourceForge
 first, but a search for "purple" and "libpurple" turned up nothing
 relevant (a search for Pidgin would have worked however).

 I see that the FC6 download page now links to a repo, so I guess we can
 close this bug report.
