Comment:

 If by 'subgroups' you mean an entry in the buddy list to consolidate
 multiple accounts for a single person you know that has existed in
 gaim/pidgin for quite a while, right-click and hit Expand or just drag and
 drop the buddies around. If instead you mean actual subgroups that
 function as normal groups that isn't likely to happen in pidgin. What
 clients have this feature? Any of the official ones?
