 I've been having the same dialogs pop up in Adium and Pidgin on my MSN
 account recently, as has one of my Gaim 2.0.0beta6 using friends.

 In my experience, these dialogs have all been related to old contacts,
 some of whom I know have now moved on to using different MSN accounts.

 My theory is that these are all expired accounts which are being pruned
 from the service, including from all users' contact lists. Thus, clicking
 "yes" would re-add a buddy whose account has been marked dormant to your
 list, which could well be pruned once again causing the same dialog to pop
 up on the next login.

 If this really is the case, Pidgin should handle the situation where a
 buddy is missing from the server list differently... Remember, the
 official client doesn't actually have any concept of a local list, so the
 server list should perhaps be treated as the canonical version. Either
 that or change the wording on the dialog to suggest why this may have
 happened.
