Comment:

 Personal taste (and also from a friend) when I first submitted this (for
 Gaim a long time ago), but now I already got used to the new way.

 Actually the history plugin is a magnificent thing and imho (if somebody
 else still wants this) an approximate solution can be done with it - such
 that it prints a bounch of empty lines before the history and before the
 conversation (the scroller that would appear is the negative side of this
 solution)...
