 This isn't an issue anymore.  After reading through ticket #631, I deleted
 all the libpurple.so* files on my computer then re-installed pidgin and
 libpurple.

 Now I can't get it to crash.  I'm still not sure why it was segfaulting in
 the beginning though.  The libpurple.so problem was causing the the
 following.  I'm sure it was related though.
