Comment (by Giel):

I assume that, IPv6 support on GNU/Linux systems, versus no such support
on win32, is currently achieved through conditional compiling (i.e. #ifdef
 style macros)?

Since both OSes use berkeley style sockets (winsock's main difference is
in socket construction/destruction) I suppose there would need to be
little difference between the two pieces of code. I'm interested at giving
the integration of IPv6 support a go (currently working on achieving the
same for the [http://wz2100.net/ Warzone 2100] codebase).

However, since I'm new to the Pidgin codebase (almost typed Gaim there...,
although that would equally apply), I would like a pointer at which files
currently implement IPv6 networking support (i.e. for GNU/Linux) and where
such support for win32 should go (unless they ought to be in the same
 files of course).

PS I have already succeeded at compiling Pidgin, so that's one barrier
 down.
