Comment (by nicolasaumond):
I;
I am not an engineer but i too have the same problem. However, i noticed
the problem started right after entering the second user account with
yahoo using the same DISPLAY NAME.
It just won't work. I uninstall and re-installed several time with reboot
in between (also used reghenced, Ccleaner, etc...to clean registry) with
no success. I then decided to try it in ubuntu under gaim and got the time
to read the error message which said something about Yahoo server not
allowing two same DISPLAY NAME (probably from the same ip...) I was able
to run it under ubuntu by changing the DISPLAY NAME but under winxp pro, i
still can't run the software...it crashes before i got the time to stop it
from auto connecting to the registered users accounts.
What we need is to find the keys where it keeps the users accounts and
delete them.
Anyone knows where GAIM /Pidgin 2.0 keeps these info on the winxp please,
please let me know...

> I am running Pidgin 2.0.0 on Windows XP SP2. When I first installed it,
it was working fine for a couple of weeks. Then one day, when I started
it up, windows gave me a message that the application had crashed and
would now close. I tried it a couple of times and I think the thing that
triggers it most is logging in with my aim account. It seems to be ok
when I login with my yahoo and msn accounts. The second I login with aim
account it crashes again. This happens with the debug build too. I have
attached the debug.log files from the release and debug versions as well
as the debug.rpt file.

upgraded from gaim to pidgin and it worked fine. After the crash
happened, I uninstalled and reinstalled with reboots in between several
times. I also tried to clean up references to gaim and pidgin in the
registry and the filesystem before installing again to make sure there
were no artifacts left behind. Nothing seems to work.
