 At least on Windows, it is incremented/decremented twice in both the
 conversation window and the preferences window.  The grow/shrink function
 in the code seems to be called twice, according to my testing.  This bug
 has been around for a while, and it is very annoying, along with the AIM
 font scaling issue.
