 Scenario:
 1. A user (GW Messenger) not on your buddy list sends you an IM.
 2. You attempt to add that person to your buddy list by going to
 File->Add...
 3. After hitting Add on the dialog that appears, the following message is
 displayed:

 "Unable to add [username] to your buddy list (User not found)."

 This problem seems to do with the username being reported fully qualified
 at first (a full LDAP username, for example).  For example, my username at
 my organization is "jasutton".  If I were to IM another person with GW
 messenger here (assuming I wasn't on his buddy list), my username would
 appear as "jasutton.IT.bju" in Pidgin (that's the fully qualified LDAP
 username).  If you try to add this username (by going to File->Add in the
 IM dialog), Pidgin fails.  However, if you use the simple username
 ("jasutton"), it succeeds.

 This behavior has been observed in Pidgin 2.0, as well as all previous
 versions of Gaim that supported GW Messenger.
