Comment:

 This isn't something that Pidgin has control over - that error is coming
 from the Windows Shell.

 All Pidgin is doing is telling the Windows Shell "Please open this URL
 with whatever you use to open 'http:' URIs" - if Windows doesn't know what
 to do with it, there is nothing that Pidgin can do.

 What is the value of `HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\command` in your
 Registry?
