Hello
i'm looking for a messaging client that:
1. use multiple protocolls --> pidgin great!
2. for windows --> pidgin great!
3. '''run with standart user rights :S'''
If you test this software with the microsoft tool:
Standard User Analyzer
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=df59b474-c0b7-4422-8c70-b0d9d3d2f575&DisplayLang=en
you'll see that this software is not yet "OK",,,
-->CreateFileA: File (\Device\HarddiskVolume2\WINDOWS\system32\1054) is
denied 'GENERIC_READ' access with error 0x5.
"This application was denied acces to an object"
or:
-->'''This application performed an operation that requiered priviledge'''
RegSetValueExW: Key
(\REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders) requires 'KEY_SET_VALUE' access. This access was restricted to
trusted users when the application called RegCreateKeyExW with
'MAXIMUM_ALLOWED'. If the application were running as a standard user,
the call to RegCreateKeyExW would succeed, but this call to RegSetValueExW
would fail.
and many more...
i think it's a basic thing to make a program to be runned only as
"restricted user"...
like in unix...
will it be fixed?
it would be great, because in a little/medium company with 200users using
XP such a software should function without any "error" in the microsoft
standart user analyzer...
if i am not right please advise me
thank u very much and congratulations for your good work!
i use gaim for many years yet ;)
yours sincerly, Dani
