 I haven't reviewed the patch in detail yet. It looks okay. I don't really
 want to throw this in for a release in two days, so I think I'll target
 this for 2.0.2. It adds a public function, so that'll have to wait until
 2.1.0. I'm leaning towards committing it for 2.1.0, then backporting it
 (duplicating the function in the process) for 2.0.2. That way, we get the
 feature right away, but the duplicated code will be killed for 2.1.0. I'm
 not sure though.
