#1243: No need to recognize ident strings as email URIs
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 Reporter: afcowie | Type: enhancement
   Status: new | Priority: minor
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.0

--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
The identification string that shows beside people's nicks when they join
a channel {user id, ident, cloak, hostmask (sic), etc} is presented by
gaim/pidgin in the traditional ident form of some [pseudo] username
followed by an '@' character and some string that may be a host, may be a
host mask, may be a reverse lookup, and may be junk.

Regardless, the one thing that it usually is NOT is a valid email address,
but the channel window interprets it as one and presents a mailto
 hyperlink.

I've started to notice that these links are increasingly distracting. Is
it technically possible to teach the channel|chat window to not parse the
 ident strings as email URIs?
