 As stated above, I tested the patch out on a number of other machines
 today.

 The results were good. When installed on a Windows machine that didn't
 have Bonjour installed, the plugin simply failed to initialise and thus
 wasn't offered as an option to add an account. Pidgin was happy to talk to
 other instances of pidgin on the local network.

 One problem, however, was that pidgin failed to talk to iChat. The DNS-SD
 stuff worked fine, and buddies appeared on iChat as appropriate, but they
 couldn't have a conversation. I didn't have enough time to find out why
 this was, but I'm pretty sure it isn't my fault, since I haven't touched
 the XMPP stuff. It was possibly more to do with dodgy configuration on
 iChat's end. I may have to bite the bullet and buy a mac mini so I can
 properly test this.

 All in all, I reckon the patch is ready to apply. Someone probably ought
 to test it out on Windows 98/ME if possible I guess, I can't do that
 because of lack of licences/install media.
