 I did the installation from source files.
 There are no errors during compilation nor installation, but when I launch
 finch or pidgin, there are no protocol available in the list, I cannot
 create an account. The application crashes when I try to create one. I
 think the problem comes from libpurple or from the installation locations
 (libpurple cannot locate protocol libraries).

 Error message: "g_log: purple_find_prpl: assertion `id != NULL' failed".

 I precise that my OS is Gentoo 2.6.19-gentoo-r5.
