Comment:

 I use AIM all the time, with logging, with no "truncated log"s.  Can you
 clarify how this is happening, and what is really happening?

 Pidgin cannot distinguish between "private" and "public" IRC channels;
 what do you mean it provides no log in such a circumstance?  Do you have
 logging turned on for IMs, but not chats?
