 I am a Ubuntu user (Fiesty), and I dont know how this problem arose, but
 recently, I have opened pidgin, and tried to enable my AIM account only to
 find that it suddenly crashes. so now when it opens, aim and msn are
 disabled by default with only google talk enabled; it works fine, until I
 enable my aim for some reason. I have included a backtrace that occurred
 when replicating the program, hope this helps. By the way, I have GAIM
 still installed, and I have no such issues.
