 I have the same problem using pidgin 2.0.1 with two MSN accounts :
 I need a lot of tries to get connected (write errors problems)
 When i get connected, i can see my contacts but when sending them a
 message, i get a message (translated from french :  unable to send message
 because of a connection problem).
 I had some similar problems with GAIM, but now with pidgin it is quite
 often and it's became unusable.
