 This is a bug I've submitted on Gaim 2.0b6. It has just been closed on
 SourceForge bug tracker, but since the issue is not solved, I submit it
 again.

 Once spell check is activated, each tab leads Pidgin process to use about
 20 MB of memory. On the screenshot I provide (taken from the great
 ProcessExplorer process properties view), you can see a pyramid in the
 Private Bytes History.
  * The first step is the original Pidgin memory footprint, without spell
 check and any tab opened.
  * The second step is just after enabling spell check, without any tab
 opened.
  * All other steps to the top of the pyramid are the consequence of the
 opening of 8 tabs.
  * And all other steps from the top are the successive closes of these 8
 tabs.
 All tabs are blank, I'd just opened it, without writing any word into it.

 I may provide more system information as you wish, as Pidgin is THE
 software I use to communicate ;)
