This is a bug I've submitted on Gaim 2.0b6. It has just been closed on
SourceForge bug tracker, but since the issue is not solved, I submit it
again.
Once spell check is activated, each tab leads Pidgin process to use about
20 MB of memory. On the screenshot I provide (taken from the great
ProcessExplorer process properties view), you can see a pyramid in the
Private Bytes History.
* The first step is the original Pidgin memory footprint, without spell
check and any tab opened.
* The second step is just after enabling spell check, without any tab
opened.
* All other steps to the top of the pyramid are the consequence of the
opening of 8 tabs.
* And all other steps from the top are the successive closes of these 8
tabs.
All tabs are blank, I'd just opened it, without writing any word into it.
I may provide more system information as you wish, as Pidgin is THE
software I use to communicate ;)
