 I'm not sure about the functionality of "Show empty groups".

 As I see it, it will show all existing groups (from all accounts, even not
 connected ones) and groups from not connected accounts appear as empty.

 IMHO, "empty groups" should always be shown for _my_ account (or to be
 more specific, for each of the currently connected account).

 Groups from other accounts have no reason to be shown there, since those
 accounts are not connected. Hey, some of those accounts may even not be
 mine.
 By showing groups from other, not connected accounts, I get the option to
 remove such a group. I get a dialog asking me if I am sure I want to
 remove the group and all buddies in it. Then I say ok, remove it, and
 nothing happens. The group is still there.

 At first glance, it appears as a bug, removing groups does not work.
 At second glance it becomes clear there is something missing from the GUI,
 that is the previous dialog that should inform me that the group is from a
 not connected account and cannot be removed unless I connect that account
 as well.
