Comment:

 There lacks consensus on whether the group counts are useful or not. I,
 personally, don't care for them, other people agree that they'd rather see
 them gone altogether. Other people would prefer to see them all the time.

 Some people have a problem with the inconsistency of showing them when
 collapsed, but not when expanded. I think it makes sense. If you can't see
 the contents of the group, it may make more sense to have the count then.

 Your case isn't too interesting to me: if you have so many buddies you
 can't see them without scrolling, I suspect it doesn't really matter if
 there are 50 or 55 of them.

 I can't really think of any case where you're more interested in how many
 buddies you have, rather than which buddies you have: and that's the case
 you're arguing. That you want to know how many buddies you have, without
 scrolling to look to see which they are

 If I were to make a change, it would be to remove the counts entirely, but
 I'll leave it as is.
