 I'd actually like to switch Adium's libpurple to using gnutls to get
 access to the shiny certificate verification code now in libpurple, in any
 case.  We're working on an all-new, much more robust build system for
 Libpurple.framework and dependencies for use in Adium; once that's a bit
 more stable, we should probably be able to answer the "is this openssl's
 fault?" question.
