Comment:

 Since we use GTK+, we have no control over using the Windows alt+xxxx
 character insertion method.  To insert a special character, hold
 ctrl+alt+shift and type a u followed by the 4-digit unicode number.  For
 example, to type Ĩ, hold ctrl+alt+shift while typing u0128.  These numbers
 do NOT match the Windows "alt codes".
