 Why would you need to go back to the buddy list?

 If you are using [wiki:"Using
 Pidgin#CanIgroupbuddiesbytheirownerlikeTrilliansorMirandasMetacontacts"
 contacts] correctly, you can just change which one you are talking to via
 the 'Send To' menu.
