 Occasionally (but quite frequently, say one time out of three) Pidgin
 deletes my contacts list from the MSN server. Next time I connect, it will
 complain for a difference between the local and the remote list, and ask
 to add each single contact. This is already annoying, but in the process I
 also lose the icons, aliases and last seen info (I can use Evolution
 synchronization to restore the aliases).

 This problem first arised after trying to add a contact from a different
 copy of Pidgin. Since then it started to complain about synchronization
 issues, and soon it was complaining not just about the new contacts, but
 the whole buddy list.

 To understand what was going on, I used the web service from Microsoft,
 which clearly showed that my remote buddy list was empty.
