 I have updated the patch to fix the CPU usage issue. yay!

 Someone else want to take a crack at the empty space issue? I will
 probably take a look at it again in a couple of days if it's not fixed by
 then.

 Since this patch changes the !PidginScrollBook structure, should we make
 it an opaque structure now so we can freely apply this patch after 2.3.0?
