 Good point.

 I suppose instead of removing 'notebook', we could do
 {{{
 scroll_book->notebook = &scroll_book->parent_instance;
 }}}

 I am tempted to think changing the inheritance would not cause a problem.
 We can wait till the next major release if it does.
