 An option to only use the specified proxy server if a straight connection
 to the internet is unavailable would be extremely useful.

 For example, when I'm using a wireless hotspot that only supports HTTP, I
 need to manually change the connection settings to use a HTTP Proxy, then
 manually change them back when I'm using my own fixed line connection.
