 Trillian has a feature where you can show offline contacts as a "group".
 I find this convenient because sometimes there are contacts who like to
 appear offline when they really aren't.  To stop Buddy List from scrolling
 I am forced to hide offline buddies.  If I want to see if one of the
 offline buddies is really offline, I have to show offline buddies just for
 this task.

 Yes, it is possible to sort by status.  However, this is accomplished
 within each group, so the advantage of having all offline contacts at the
 bottom isn't there.  Also, if offline contacts are available as their own
 group, the group can easily be expanded or contracted.  The benefits are
 having them readily available while not cluttering up the Buddy List.
