 > No, a patch that simply reverts the change would not be accepted. If you
want to pick a more eye-catching blue you are welcome to do so. Though
ideally the patch would implement the configurability bit and not just a
color change. You can also of course just suggest a new blue in a comment
 if you want to.

Half a dozen people I know have refrained from submitting this as a bug
because I told them it was already submitted. You've made it more
accessible to a tiny fraction of your users and less accessible to the
majority. I'll just tell all those folks this bug is closed and let them
come submit theirs. I'm not saying it has to be red; I'm just telling you
that a number of people find the new change makes the feature unusable for
them, and a solution should be found besides "screw you guys, it's better
for this other guy who complained".

I know two other people who are not upgrading to 2.3 because of this,
waiting for me to report what's going on. Should I suggest they not
bother, or suggest they file bugs? You made a change that made the
product less usable for your users. Your intentions were good, but your
approach has a flaw you didn't notice in testing. Around here we'd
consider the new bug we introduced to be at least as important as the old
one we fixed, especially if it inconvenienced a larger audience than the
 old one.
