 I was thinking that the issue might be related to a plugin... it is.  When
 I turned off the plugin called " Text replacment 2.3.0" Pidgin no longer
 crashes.  It appears to be that plugin that crashes.  Have others try this
 too.  I'll turn it off and mine will now be fine, but maybe this is an
 issue?
