Comment:

 Er, they AREN'T using a newer verison of aim or aol?  Is this still a
 problem?  If so, please let me know what version of Pidgin you're using
 and exactly what version of AIM the other person is using.  Also, pasting
 the conents from the debug window (Help->Debug Window) from a failed
 direct im or file transfer attempt would be helpful.
