Comment:

 This is done for the next non-emergency-bugfix release, which is hopefully
 2.2.2, but might be later depending on some code quality factors.  Until
 then, as a workaround, you can use the showoffline plugin from
 [http://plugins.guifications.org/trac/wiki/PluginPack the Purple Plugin
 Pack], but note that there are a few bugs in it.  For the most part,
 though, it will do everything you need.
