 Pidgin currently will not open a second instance of itself by default.
 However, if a user runs pidgin while another instance is already running,
 there is absolutely no indication of why pidgin exits immediately, even if
 run with debugging messages on. The buddy list of the existing instance
 doesn't pop up, and there is no message to the console, just an immediate
 exit. This is extremely confusing for users who are not used to this
 behavior, as it's certainly possible to forget about a backgrounded
 instance.
