 I've noticed that whenever I try to type Japanese characters in Pidgin,
 they don't show up properly. (Every character just appears as a box
 containing four circles.) The friends I send messages to tell me that they
 can see the characters just fine despite this (they are ''not'' using
 Pidgin), but I cannot. And if anyone tries to send me a message containing
 Unicode characters, I also receive only a sequence of the strange boxes
 with four circles in each. Please add Unicode support!
