#3562: Automatic Unicode font adjustment

I was hoping that the support for Unicode formatting can be improved.
Currently, if you type a Unicode character (I've been using Japanese
characters in particular), they will only display properly if you have the
preferences set to use a font that supports them (e.g. the ''default
font'', ahem), otherwise all that gets displayed is a box with four
circles in it for each character. However, this is not really the default
behavior for most programs that I have seen. Usually the program will
adjust the font automatically if the character is not contained within it.

For example, I used Microsoft Word 2007. The default font there is
Calibri, which does not provide support for many unicode characters.
However, if I start typing Japanese letters, it automatically adjusts and
sets them to the MS Mincho font, the default for Asian characters.

I have seen other programs behave similarly as well, adjusting the font
when necessary (including AIM, I believe). This would be a more desired
behavior than the current behavior of only displaying the characters
properly when all the letters are set to that font. Would it be possible
to incorporate this sort of feature in Pidgin?
