 I'm having a problem identical to http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/3535,
 except my friends who ''are'' using Pidgin can see the characters just
 fine, and I cannot, whether I am sending or receiving them. As far as I
 can tell we are running more or less identical configurations - I know for
 a fact we are using the same font, so it doesn't appear to be an issue
 with the font's support of Unicode.
