 I don't know why, but ever since downloading pidgin 2.2.2, my laptop makes
 an internal beeping noise (cannot be muted - because its coming directly
 from the computer). I've found this happens for example when typing, if i
 backspace too far in a sentence of go too far forward in a sentence. Or,
 if i click the 'home' or 'end' button in a sentence. Very irritating. and
 not at all inconspicuous.
