 I don't believe the spec says anyhing about when a conversation should be
 considered closed, nor do I think it should, that is not really a matter
 for a specification (a best practives guide, sure, but not a spec). As I
 said, and as the empathy people said in your Gnome bug above, this is a
 disagreement as to what the end of a messaging session means. It looks
 like tp-salut times out idle connections for you, pidgin does not do this.
 pidgin interprets the connection as a conversation, tp-salut doesn't
 connect the two. I'm not sure either is wrong, though personally I think
 the correct thing to do would be to stop pidgin from presenting those
 notifications.
