> pidgin comes bundled with Gutsy because the Ubuntu maintainers decided
to do that, that decision has no bearing on whether or not we host .deb
packages on pidgin.im and in fact is only likely to *decrease* the
likelihood of us doing that, since now both Debian and Ubuntu maintain
their own packages. I have no idea what "Linux Software Update" is or what
possible relation it has to our website, so I'm not at all sure why you
think that is relevant.
The software updater (aka Update Manager) checks for new versions of
installed packages based on software sources, the community (universe),
and other sources (multiverse, manual software source input.)
It would be appreciated if I was told where to get a URL for such updates,
so I would not have had to post this here. Regrettably, I don't care for
signing up on the Ubuntu.com community forums to gain this information.
(I'd rather sign up for a forum account here at the website, but you only
have a trac system set-up, and no forums. vBulletin has a bug/tracker
system in it by the way.)
