 I took a log.  The rooms that I have set to auto-join are on XMPP.  It
 looks as if the presence stanza is sent to those rooms, and the rooms
 reply with scrollback, etc. indicating that I successfully joined!
 However, there are still no windows for those rooms (one auto-join room
 *is* getting a window now).

 I'd post the log here, but the scrollback contains information that is
 confidential, and I'm wary of trying to edit it all out in case I
 eliminate something crucial to the debugging. Mail me as bmogilefsky
 atatat gmail, and I'll send it to you privately.
