 I agree the interface is confusing.  You choose 'Google Talk' from the
 Protocol dropdown box when you create the account, but it displays as XMPP
 when you save.  I understand that Google Talk uses XMPP as it's underlying
 protocol, it would just be nice (and less confusing for the non-techo
 peoples) to still show Google Talk.  Sorry I can't help with the
 connection issue, mine is working fine.  The debug log is the key :)
