Comment:

 OK, I just had to restart, and the problem no longer persists (stupid me,
 I didn't try that first), but in case it means anything, the problem was
 this: whichever account was the second to have a password entered would
 not authorize (i.e. the error message was the same you'd get if you
 entered the wrong password).  You can probably close this, and if so,
 sorry for the bother.
