Comment:

 I am seeing this with all protocols, and regardless of whether the user
 has a buddy icon or not.

 Pidgin no longer uses buddy icons for window icons anyway, which I
 consider a vast improvement, because window icons were not being adjusted
 to show status before. I'd keep thinking a user was online and present
 when they weren't, since the conversation window's icon was always the
 buddy icon in online state (colour) (if there was one) instead of offline
 state (greyscale), idle (translucent, not possible in Win2k) or away (with
 a sticky note) regardless of status.
