#3062: Closing auto-minimized window breaks event loop
---------------------------------+------------------------------------------
Reporter: Daniel Beardsmore | Type: defect
   Status: new | Priority: minor
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.1.1
Keywords: minimise, minimised | Pending: 0
---------------------------------+------------------------------------------
This bug affects new windows created with ''Minimize new conversation
windows'' checked. The steps to reproduce it are as follows:

 * Get someone to IM you shortly
 * Start Pidgin
 * The person sends you a message
 * Pidgin creates a new conversation window, and per the above setting,
 opens it minimised
 * Right-click the window's taskbar button, click Close

The window will not close, and Pidgin is now in a painfully broken state.
You can select, move, minimise and restore windows, but GTK+'s own event
loop is mostly destroyed -- keyboard and mouse events to open windows
(e.g. conversations, Accounts) are ignored and no windows will close.

The only part of Pidgin still responding is the tray icon, from which you
can still open the menu ask Pidgin to quit.

There have, in the recent past (Pidgin 2.0 onwards), been various triggers
to cause very similar problems, and I don't know what any of them are. I
seem to recall the tray icon also generally being put out of action in
previous cases. However, it may all indicate a lower-level flaw.

I can repeat this particular trigger over and over in Windows 2000.
