 I totally agree with the original post.

 My take on the situation is that there should be an option to sign off
 accounts after a certain timeout. A sign out all accounts would be a good
 first start. It's a pain to shutdown Pidgin completely at work so that
 when I get home I can sign in smoothly. Better make sure I exit Pidgin
 before I leave work or I'll be in the same boat.
