 What if pidgin made it ''appear'' as if you were offline even if you
 weren't? Wouldn't that solve the problem?

 I know it makes the implementation and even use-cases of this feature a
 little bit asymmetrical, but, as I mentioned before, I've got a
 psychological barrier. I always have to hit enter, even though I know
 it'll just time out after two seconds.
