 I have the plugin, it works, I wanted to work on it a bit more but haven't
 sat down to do so. Also, I don't have it doing drag and drop because I'm
 not sure I can tell (from a plugin) when an entry in the buddy list is
 dropped over 'empty space'. I think having free-floating groups is a
 somewhat different idea than having free-floating buddies. When I used to
 use ICQ and had floating buddies it was so that I could avoid having my
 buddy list up and still be able to see the status of the couple of people
 I actually cared about at a glance (also with ICQ hiding messages in the
 blist entry it made popping the message up easier).

 I think of having floating groups as more of an alternative buddy list
 view and less of a convenience thing. Which given the two Adium SoC blog
 posts about it seems to be how it was done (in Adium internally and as a
 secondary buddy list in and of itself). I think both ideas have merit I'm
 just not sure they serve the same purposes.
