Comment:

 ah, herein lies the problem.. the regular instructions don't work for
 anyone who uses their email address as the login name (since they tell you
 to strip the @ sign), and i don't use google apps for my domain! So
 neither of these instructions would be applicable (mind you, i've tried
 both!)
